The several hundred visitors to Daeja's booth at the ARMA 2006 International Expo saw demonstrations of three exciting new products all designed to help improve the security and performance of webtop document viewing.

Permanent Redactions SDK

The annual international gathering of Records Managers and Administrators was the perfect venue to show off the new Permanent Redactions SDK, designed to protect sensitive information when responding to Freedom of Information requests and industry compliance measures.

Whatever the format of the document being viewed (including any of the 300+ file formats permissable by the Universal Viewing Module - see below for more details), the user can 'burn' redactions onto the document and output a TIFF file, with the redaction blacking out the appropriate location.

If your original document is a text-based PDF file, you can also opt to create a permanently-redacted PDF file, where any text or images underneath the redaction are permanently removed, whilst still retaining the text-searchability of the remainder of the document. Document Streaming SDK

Another new product on show was the Document Streaming SDK, which delivers on-the-fly splitting of multipage TIFF and PDF files to significantly improve document browsing speeds. If you want to view page 10 of a document, you don't need to wait for pages 1-9 to cache before 10 will be shown. If you take advantage of our pre-fetching technology you can also be caching pages around the page you're viewing in the background.

For additional performance, the split pages can also be cached on the server, where they can be delivered for other users without the need to split the document the next time.

Universal Viewing Module

Our Universal Viewing Module is now available to pre-order, and generated a great deal of interest amongst visitors to the booth. The Module, which adds support for another 300 file formats within the viewer, is cached and integrated into the user's ViewONE Pro implementation automatically when a user clicks to view one of the supported formats, without a client installation or permissions required.

Visitors to the booth saw Word documents, CAD drawings, Powerpoint presentations and Illustrator EPS files all presented within ViewONE Pro, and were able to annotate them all using the existing ViewONE Pro annotation tools.

The Universal Viewing Module is licensed per server, and is priced in user number bands: 1-100 users at £1,000GBP; 101-500 users at £2,500GBP; 501-1000 users at £5,000GBP; and 1001+ users at £12,500GBP.

ViewONE Pro Spot The Difference Competition

Over 100 visitors to the booth took part in Daeja's 'Spot the Difference' competition to win a 30Gb iPod. Each of the entrants used ViewONE Pro's annotations capability to mark the five differences between two TIFF files, two PDF files and two Word documents.

Although some of the differences proved difficult to find, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the competition and also went away with a new appreciation of the concepts of Universal Viewing and Universal Annotation.
