The Permanent Redaction Server Module works with the ViewONE Pro Annotations Module to deliver the permanent ‘burning-in’ of redactions (block-outs) onto any document format supported by ViewONE Pro, a list which now includes TIFF, PDF, MS Word, Excel and AutoCAD. The module outputs a new TIFF or PDF file for storage within your ECM or RM system and for safe distribution outside of the organization.

Developed specifically in response to customer requests resulting from concerns over compliance with legislation concerning storage of records and Freedom of Information access, the Permanent Redaction Server Module allows the original version of the document to remain unredacted, whilst a non-editable, redacted version can be made available to those without appropriate security privileges to view the original.

The ViewONE Pro Permanent Redaction Server Module has two options – burn redactions onto any document type and output a new Group IV TIFF file with the redacted area’s pixels blacked out, or, if the original document is a PDF, generate a new redacted PDF retaining the original's searchability, leveraging technology licensed from PDF Security experts Appligent.  This new PDF, like the TIFF, has the redacted data permanently deleted, not just covered, removing entirely all possibility of risk, even from file hacking or unauthorized access.

In addition to the protections offered, the redaction process itself is optimized for web-based system users.  Unlike other systems which involve applying redactions to the file and then posting the entire, redacted, document back to the repository, generating significant network traffic, ViewONE Pro sends just the small redaction file (typically a few kilobytes) to its Server Module.  Using simple I/O, the Module then retrieves the original document from the repository, burns in the redaction and stores the output file back in the repository, without network load.

Priced at just £1,000GBP for our normal unlimited user server-based license, the Permanent Redaction Server Module for ViewONE Pro is available to purchase from 16th April.  We will also be distributing demo disks from our booth (#2639) at the AIIM Expo.
