Looking back on AIIM/OnDemand 2007, in Boston from 17th - 19th April, it was a show memorable for Daeja because of the 'Three Rs': rain, runners and redaction. The show saw the launch of Daeja's new Permanent Redaction Server Module and advance demos of the forthcoming Document Streaming Server Module.
Rain & Runners
Whilst the UK basked in glorious sunshine, the Daeja team left the 25 degrees Celcius temperatures behind and headed for Boston to be greeted by torrential rain, high winds and freezing temperatures. Next year's show is even earlier, at the start of March, so we're likely to all be ploughing through snow and hail.
Whilst the weather only made life travelling to and from the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center a little more challenging, to the 22,500 runners and their supporters who were in town for the Patriot's Day running of the Boston Marathon the weather was a serious problem. Thankfully the Daeja team resisted the temptation to join in and limited our participation to shaking Boston Athletic Association cowbells and cheering on the competitors near the finish.
Redactions
The AIIM Show itself attracted 11,000 visitors who were treated to the launch of ViewONE Pro's new Permanent Redaction Server Module.
Visitors to Daeja's booth were shown ViewONE Pro's new ability to apply redactions to any of the 300+ supported file formats and output a new, securely redacted, TIFF file.
In addition to TIFF generation, the Permanent Redaction Server Module also offers the ability to permanently burn-in redactions to PDF documents, outputting a new PDF file.
Some PDF redaction systems simply embed redaction information into the PDF header which then covers up the confidential data in the file. However, the data being hidden from view is still within the file, leaving it at risk from anyone seeking to extract the raw data from the document.
Daeja's Permanent Redaction Server Module permanently deletes everything below the redaction, text and images, offering complete protection even from document cracking and other unauthorised file access.
The Permanent Redaction Server Module is available to purchase today and is licensed by the server for low cost rollout and scalability, priced at just £1,000GBP for a perpetual server license.

Document Streaming Server Module
Also on display was the upcoming Document Streaming Server Module, which splits multipage TIFF and PDF files on the server on the fly, to serve only the pages requested by the viewer. The module significantly reduces the data transfer between server and client delivering exceptionally fast document browsing.
In addition, the Document Streaming Server Module also instantly removes unnecessary or pre-cached information from the split pages (such as fonts from PDFs) and compresses the remainder, further reducing the data transfer and speeding up the user experience.
The forthcoming Annotations Streaming capability mirrors the page serving, performing the same extraction and transfer for annotations data associated with the streamed document, which also means that if annotations are amended, only the annotations data from the individual pages needs to be returned to the server, not the entire multipage annotations file as would previously have been required.
The Document Streaming Server Module will be available to purchase in the near future. To register your interest, or to participate in the beta programme, please email sales@daeja.com.
