STANDARD vs PRO -
Which is right for me?
One
of the most common requests we receive is for
a 'quick view' comparison of our ViewONE Standard and
ViewONE Pro products to aid product selection.
The
table to the right shows a list of the key features of
the products, and highlights those which are specific
to one particular product only.
The
most fundamental difference between the viewers is the
increased extendibility offered to ViewONE Pro through
the innovative Advanced Cache Manager (ACM).
The
additional module options for ViewONE Standard are limited
to just the Print Accelerator and Annotations modules,
whilst ViewONE Pro can be extended with the full list
of optional modules, currently comprising Print Accelerator,
Annotations, PDF, COLD, and DjVu.
ViewONE
Standard caches the
entire functionality to the user's browser cache folder
when they click to view an image. Currently ViewONE Standard
is just under 1MB. If we wanted to add additional functionality,
that file size would have to increase, which would be
unacceptable for users.
ViewONE
Pro, however, works differently. Uniquely
for an applet, ViewONE Pro creates its own folder on
the user's machine rather than using the browser cache.
The ACM
pulls down just the core applet, and as additional functionality
is required (such as PDF support), the ACM manages the
caching of the additional modules to deliver that functionality
on an 'on-demand' basis.
This
Module-On-Demand delivery means that there's no restriction
in the number of additional modules that can either be
added to your viewer configuration, or that can be developed
by Daeja. Currently there are as many as 12 possible
modules to be developed over the course of the next 2
years.
In
addition to the Pro-specific features highlighted in
the list to the right, there are many other benefits
of switching to Pro, from speed of opening and additional
security to managed rollout to minimize server load (where
you can 'push-install' the viewer to your internal userbase,
or segment the userbase to allow only certain sections
to update at a time).

Pro can help your organization, please visit www.daeja.com or email us at marketing@daeja.com.

ViewONE
Pro Security Module
Currently
in development, ViewONE Pro's Security Module will
be free to all ViewONE Pro customers signed up for
maintenance.
Whilst
ViewONE and ViewONE Pro already encrypt image data
when held within the browser/ViewONE Pro cache folder,
Daeja has frequently been asked to provide a heightened
security option for those customers who want end-to-end
encryption and protection during data transfer.
The
encryption standard being used is called Triple DES,
which takes the 64-bit DES (Data Encryption Standard)
and applies it three times, creating 192-bit encryption.
The US National Institute of Standards of Technology
defines Triple DES on its website as:
"A
method for using the DES algorithm in three operations,
developed by the private sector and used in many government
and private sector organizations, particularly in the
financial services industry. These operations have
been documented and specified as an American National
Standard (ANSI X9.52) by Accredited Standards Committee
X9 for Financial Services, which develops cryptography
and public key infrastructure standards."
The
two options for customers will be:
a) to
use Triple DES to encrypt the file data within the
ViewONE Pro cache
b) to use Triple DES to encrypt the file data server side
for encryption during transit as well as within the
cache.
Current investigations also include the possibility
of PKI two-part key encryption, in which each Daeja customer
would be able to create their own public key, which is
then combined with Daeja's own private key. Both keys
will be required for decryption thus creating a highly
secure environment.

The ViewONE Reseller Program
Joining
the ViewONE Reseller Program is a great way to
add a revenue stream to your organization. If
you're already a VAR of other solutions, you
could be earning income from each ViewONE and
ViewONE Pro license you sell.
Signing
up to the Reseller Program entitles our VARs
to a discount off the purchase price of ViewONE,
ViewONE Pro and the associated modules, and there's
no enrolment fee or annual subscription charge.
The minimum threshold to start benefiting from
discounted purchase is just 5 licenses.
Following
the completion of the new Daeja website, our
VARs will also be able to access a secure Partners
section
of the site which will contain development information, marketing materials,
specific Reseller FAQs and support, and more.
To
find out more about the benefits of becoming
a ViewONE Reseller, please contact us at reseller@daeja.com.

...for
our new range of advertisements.
Created
as displays for the KMEurope show, we're
reusing our concepts as banner advertisements on
websites throughout the DM space.
Focusing
on the key messages of hassle-free rollout, no
end user installation, training or licensing, and
the product's web credentials, the advertisements
will spread the word about ViewONE and ViewONE
Pro to a wide range of potential markets.
Linking
back to our website, the advertisements are the
first of several planned online campaigns.
