This is the latest addition to the ever-increasing portfolio of modules available from Daeja. To be used in conjunction with ViewONE Pro, the new module enables users to view Outlook MSG (in HTML and Plain Text formats) and EML messages on a single page without the need for an email client on their machine. The user can also view email text in its original format and layout whereas most competing approaches are only able to display simple text.

The module also gives users the facility to view embedded images and attachments without needing to open another viewing program or saving to disk first. Intuitive attachment viewing is initiated by clicking on an ‘attachment’ icon, which then opens a tree in the thumbs index view of the document, listing all available attachments for viewing within each document. Simple visual icons make it clear to the user which document type the attachment is, e.g. PDF, Word, etc. Deeper viewing is also possible allowing users to view attachments embedded within attachments if required.

The Email Viewing Module has two customisation features designed to enhance security and control. The first controls the enabling / disabling of the ability to save email attachments locally. Set by default to allow saving to take place, this can be changed through a HTML parameter on the viewer. The second feature can be turned on or off without the need to reload the viewer, allowing external images in emails to be disabled. This means that images on remote, potentially untrusted servers can be shown or hidden as would be the case with a normal email client. This feature, set to ‘off’ by default, helps to protect online privacy.
