ViewONE Pro Email Viewing Module

The Email Viewing Module enables the viewing of Outlook MSG (in HTML & Plain Text formats) and EML messages without the need to have an email client (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc) on the machine.

The module allows you to view any email as a single page and be able to save the attachments embedded within the message to the local file system.

If you wish to print an email, the module will compress the message to fit on a single page.

The Email Viewing Module has two customizations available:

• Restrict the saving of attachments locally;
• Restrict the loading of images that are external to the message and referenced via a URL

These may be set via HTML parameters on the viewer.

Restricting External Images

The ability to disable external images in emails can be turned on or off without the need to reload the viewer using our JavaScript parameters. This means you can allow users to show or hide images on remote locations as you would in your usual email client, on the fly for each email they read. This helps to protect your online privacy by not requesting data on potentially untrusted servers. This option is turned off by default.

With these additional parameters, we give you the choice to allow what your users can or cannot do when viewing emails within the viewer.

Saving Attachments

By default users have the option to save attachments of an email, but if you wish to disable this you can do so using a HTML parameter.

Viewing Attachments

There is also the facility to open and view attachments by simply clicking on the attachment icon; this then opens a tree in the thumbs index view of the document, listing all available attachments for viewing within each document.

Visual icons make clear to the user which document type they are viewing, e.g. PDF, Email or an image file.

Deeper viewing of attachments is possible, so the user can easily view an attachment embedded within an attachment if needs be.

The advantage of this new feature is that the behaviour is intuitive, and you can view attachments directly (subject to other modules) within ViewONE without needing to load another viewing program or without having to save to disc first.

Annotating Attachments

When combined with our Annotations Module, you have the ability to annotate emails in the same way you annotate documents & images in ViewONE Pro.
