ViewONE Pro - Modules - Permanent Redaction Server Module

The Permanent Redaction Server Module was generated in response to compliance requirements, allowing users to apply permanent mark-ups to documents, including permanently blocking out sensitive areas of an image.
The Permanent Redaction Server Module is a server component which works with the ViewONE Pro Annotations Module, and is flexible enough to allow integration into any document back end system. The Server Module permanently 'burns' redactions onto any supported image format, outputting a new TIFF Group IV image - or if the source document is a text-based PDF file, a new PDF - for secure archiving and distribution outside of your organization.

Recent directives for data storage and archiving of records have resulted in a requirement for redactions applied by users and administrators to become records themselves, retaining the redaction as part of the document’s image data, in effect ‘burning’ the data into the image. ViewONE Pro’s Permanent Redaction Server Module makes available a server-side Burn Library to satisfy this requirement.
Also designed to protect sensitive information when documentation needs to be sent outside the enterprise (such as when responding to Freedom of Information requests), the Permanent Redaction Server Module will 'burn-in' redactions onto a document, permanently removing the image or data underneath, making it safe to distribute.
The ViewONE Pro Permanent Redaction Server Module has two options – burn redactions onto any document type (including any of the 300+ file formats permissable by the Universal Viewing Module) and output a new Group IV TIFF file with the redacted area’s pixels blacked out, or, if the original document is a PDF, generating a new redacted PDF retaining the original's searchability, leveraging technology licensed from PDF Security experts Appligent. This new PDF, like the TIFF, has the redacted data permanently deleted, not just covered, removing entirely all possibility of risk, even from file hacking or unauthorized access.

In order to integrate the Server Module, the Burn Library needs to be wrapped with a document control to interface with your Document Management (DM) system. Daeja provides a simple Java servlet which demonstrates how the process works, which is available from our sales team at sales@daeja.com.
In order to minimize network traffic, when the user clicks the 'Burn Annotations' button inside the viewer, the Server Module is passed just the redaction data by the client (rather than the whole document plus the redaction data). The Server Module calls the source document from the local repository, applies the redaction, and generates a new TIFF Group IV file (or PDF) with the sensitive areas permanently blacked out. This new file can then safely be archived or distributed outside of the secure environment.
- No need to pass the entire redacted document back to the server - the server component just needs the small redaction data file
- Generation of a new TIFF file or PDF file, without deletion or permanent amendment of the original document, allowing you to retain the unredacted copy for internal use
- Ability to batch-process large numbers of images - especially helpful with letter or form sheets where the applied redactions will always be in the same location on the page.
- Licensed on a Per Web Site/Server basis - for low rollout costs and fastest Return On Investment (ROI)
- The Permanent Redaction Server Module now also enables PDF to PDF redaction
