Discovering Your Operating Environment

Whenever you submit a support request or a problem report, there is certain general information that is required by the Daeja Support team before they can help. Below you will find a list of 'How To' notes which indicate how to find out the information that is required.

1. Your Browser & Version Number

The browser name and version number will be available from the 'About <browser>' menu option from the top menu (where <browser> is your particular browser's name). This menu option will normally be found either under the 'Help' menu, or the 'File' menu.

2. Your Java Runtime Environment

To ascertain which Java Engine and version you have: If you use Internet Explorer, select the ‘Tools’ menu and then ‘Internet Options’. Then select the ‘Advanced’ tab and scroll down the list until you see a line with either “Java (Sun)” or “Microsoft VM” (you may have both).

If “Microsoft VM” is ticked, then close the “Internet Options” window, then click on the ‘View’ menu and select the ‘Console’ option. The version is shown at the top of the console screen. If “Java (Sun)” is ticked it should also show the version within the same line. If it does not, then close the “Internet Option” window, and click on the “Tools” menu, then select “Sun java Console”. The version is shown at the top of the console screen. If you are using another browser, then it is likely that you are using the Sun java engine.

3. Your Windows Operating System (O/S) version

Select the Windows “Start” Menu, then “Settings” menu, “Control panel” menu then “System”. The System dialog will display the O/S version and service pack details.
